What’s an emergency call? DEEMED TO BE A THREAT TO LIFE OR PROPERTY.

A broken boiler, oven, or water leaking which can be controlled by turning off the stop tap, is NOT classed as an emergency. We understand this to be very inconvenient so please report and we’ll be sure to address as soon as possible. 

We recommend locating your properties STOP TAP and ELECTRIC FUSE BOARD. Ff you’re unable to locate the stop tap or if it’s faulty, please contact us immediately.

Examples of Emergencies:

  • Severe water leak that cannot be contained by turning off the stop tap and is causing flooding or damage to the property.
  • Complete loss of heating during extremely cold weather (e.g., BELOW freezing) where vulnerable occupants (elderly, children) are at risk.
  • Broken or insecure external door or window that leaves the property unsecure and poses a risk to safety.
  • Blocked or overflowing toilet  when there is ONLY ONE toilet in the property.
  • Gas leak or smell of gas (requires immediate evacuation and contacting National Grid FIRST).
  • Fire or smoke inside the property (call 999 FIRST).
  • Major structural damage (e.g., ceiling collapse, falling masonry) that poses a danger to life or property.

Specific issues:

Gas: If you have a gas leak or you can smell gas you must immediately evacuate the property and then contact National Grid Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. After that you must report this issue both through this system and by telephone

Fire: If there is a fire at the property under no circumstance should you try to put it out yourself. You must immediately evacuate the property and then contact the emergency services on 999 to report the fire. Then you should inform us immediately after.

Loss of power: Firstly, please check your fuse box or consumer unit to see if circuit breakers require resetting. If you are not sure how, YouTube ‘resetting trip switches on your fuse box’.

If circuit breakers do not require resetting, please telephone the electricity board, Weston Power on 0800 6783 105. They are available 24 hours a day can check whether the loss of power is due to a general power cut or not. If the loss of power is not due to power cut, this must be reported to us as usual and we will address during our opening hours.
